Laptop Demand Growing June 29, 2008

Filed under: Technology Tips + More @ 1:56 pm

Move over Desktop PC, it’s the time of the laptop computer, or at least that what the massive demand alludes to. It looks like the unfortunate suppliers are also up against problems that could keep us all waiting. Laptop Computers have been an evolving industry year on year for a number of years now and it looks set to continue. This is a trade that is searching to better on numerous things all in one go so new trends and excitement is created all the time.

I’ve witnessed an increasing number of people enquiring about gaming laptops. The price tags on new technology usually drops fast nowadays because everyone is always looking for the next product to come out. Gaming on laptops is indeed a reality now with the improvements in technology. I also think that a couple gaming laptops look really good, with some sleek, aggressive features. Sure one is not refuting that there is a power difference between portables and desktops in terms of gaming however this should always remain. I do not give it too long before we see ultra light gaming laptops on the streets.

I think demand for custom laptops will always be here. The main thing with custom laptops is that you can attain superior spec parts. It just allows the customer greater flexibility when it all boils down. Pre configured notebook computers are aimed for normal activies and not upto doing more specific things. You can get a more suitable laptop by getting it custom built. Advanced levels of customer care and support can also be discovered when buying custom built laptops. Big companies are actaully being overlooked because of this.

Exciting is a word that comes to mind when thinking of the upcoming line of laptop computers. A particular subject I haven’t touched upon is the growth of low priced ultramobiles. Obviously this will be something staggering in 3rd world nations. Large screen and ultra lightweight, that is what everyone would embrace. If we ignore processing speed I’m sure we’d see those types of laptops today. I’m wondering how long before we come across gaming ultra mobiles. Despite the fact that laptop technology follows roadmaps there is always going to be a gadget that changes all that.

Check out a few cheap gaming laptops here.

Are You Using These Keyword Selection Guidelines To Improve Website Conversion Rates? June 27, 2008

Filed under: Entrepreneurs @ 10:23 pm

Use the correct lingo.

Have you ever been in a room where people are talking but you don’t understand a thing about the topic or even understand the language? Take it from one who knows, it can be quite frustrating. Living in Finland and speaking only a little Finnish means that every day I’m subjected to conversations where I have very little idea about what is being said. Being a curious (some would say nosy) soul, this infuriates me! Especially if I’m on a bus and see old grannies cracking up with laughter at a private joke I’m too ignorant to be in
on.

It’s similar online. You have to start communicating on your Website using the terminology that your visitors use.
If you use the right terminology and phrases, not only do they find you, but to use my analogy, you also let them in on the joke! If you’re using the wrong terminology then you’re leaving your visitor a
bit confused, a bit foggy and feeling a bit left out of it all.
How to avoid this with your Website:

When selecting your keywords follow three simple guidelines.

• Gauge the traffic potential of the keywords in terms of quantity.

• Gauge the visitor’s intent when using those phrases in their search query

• Measure traffic potential from those keywords in terms of conversion.

1) Traffic potential of your keywords:

Obviously you want the search engines to drive lots of traffic to your Website. However, I would argue that quantity should never be your first objective; quality traffic should be what you’re looking for.
Your goal is to optimize your pages for the keywords that bring the highest numbers of prospects.

Find the keyword phrases related to your industry that your target market is searching for. So first, find out the terms that are being used by the general public by using a tool like the Overture keyword
suggestion tool. There are others available such as the one at Google; Wordtracker is also worth the investment.

But before you rush off and start optimizing your site for the keywords you find, take heed of the second guideline — gauging visitor intent.

2) The visitor’s intent when searching:

Test the phrase in the search engines you’re going to optimize for. For instance, our own keyword research showed that ‘conversion web site’ is a phrase people are using in the search engines; however, if you search on Google using this exact phrase, you will see that people
are actually looking for money conversion, religious conversion, weights and metric conversion, etc. — not sites about converting site visitors to buyers. This is why you need to look for the real reason
why people are searching. In our case ‘conversion web site’ might be worth testing on PPC, but it’s not worth optimizing our organic pages for that phrase.

3) Traffic potential in terms of conversion:

The next step is keyword measurement and experimentation. We decided to optimize for ‘improving Website conversion’ because this phrase showed that there should be reasonable traffic levels, good intent, and a high number of conversions from this phrase. We found that 27.8%
of people using that search term end up subscribing to our newsletter. When a person enters those keywords into a search engine, we’re speaking their language because our entire Website is a resource about what they’re looking for.

To do this yourself, identify keyword phrases that you think fit well with the first two guidelines above, and then measure the result. It’s about selecting the keywords immediately relevant to what your audience is looking for.

Summary

To improve the conversion rate of your Website, first find the keywords people are using related to your industry, make sure that the search results from the keywords you select are relevant to your
industry, and then optimize your site for those phrases.

Finally, measure and test those phrases so that you have the best chance of converting your search engine visitors into customers, clients, or
subscribers.

How Can Your Diet Improve Your Asthma? June 24, 2008

Filed under: The Healthy Way @ 7:10 am

“The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease”-Voltaire.

Diet plays a big part in our lives; whatever we eat, our bodies use to build cells muscles etc… (You’ve heard the old saying you are what you eat).

But unfortunately with the change in our eating habits over these past decades we can see that our health has started to decline in proportion to it. Suddenly new diseases and health conditions have appeared that nobody ever heard of.

But why?

We no longer live off the land as we once did eating our fresh crops or cooking from fresh ingredients but have become more inclined to going for the convenience of ready made and packaged foods which we have no control over what goes into them.

Also, with farmers having to overproduce crops to make a living nowadays only a few minerals are put back into the land through fertilizers.
As each new crop is taken out of the ground the majority of important nutrients ands minerals are decreasing with every crop. Each one of those missing nutrients has an important part to play in our bodies so as the levels in our bodies is reduced the less performance we get back and the more our body has to scavenge from other areas.

The best explanation I heard for this is to…

“Picture an assembly line that’s making TV sets. The TV assembly line has 5 people working on it and they each add one part. One adds the tube, one adds the buttons, one adds the electrics, one adds the part for the Ariel and the last puts it together and tests it. As the day goes on, the one in charged of the buttons notices that they don’t have enough buttons to do the full days work. There’s none in stock but she can’t stop the assembly line and so the TVs are now made now with no buttons. The TVs now aren’t working properly because all the parts aren’t there; this continues through the week each assembler running out of parts and work continuing on with out stopping.
By now the TVs don’t look like TVs anymore and there’s no chance they’ll ever work like TVS.”

Unfortunately your body can’t call time, and let you know that something’s missing. That is until it’s too late and it starts to break down with some illness or disability.
To be continued,

Last Minute Vacations June 18, 2008

Filed under: Great Travel Tips @ 8:38 pm

Many savvy travelers take advantage of last minute deals by scheduling their vacation time as normal, and within a two week period of their travel date start looking for their perfect budget vacation. All of the most popular destinations have hotel rooms that have not been filled, and many air flights are not fully booked. These deals come when hotels realize they still have inventory, and airline seats are still available within two weeks of any travel date, or less. At this point, both hotels and airlines are willing to offer deep discounts for those who can take advantage.

Let’s say you have your vacation time scheduled, are on a tight budget, but want a fabulous beach vacation somewhere in the sunny Caribbean. Your vacation is just two weeks away, and when you start looking through the last minute vacation offerings, your main dilemma may be choosing from the vast array of vacation choices.

If you have your heart set on a particular destination, last minute vacations may not deliver what you desire. However, occasionally you can hit the jackpot and get your desired vacation, along with a great savings. Last minute deals offer at least 60 or more vacations from any major departure city for deals in the Caribbean, U.S. along with many international destinations. Most deals come packaged with roundtrip airfare, hotel and include all taxes – so the price you see is the price you will pay. Many travelers have found great destinations at the final hour they would not have chosen otherwise.

Scheduling your vacation time, and waiting to within two weeks of travel to find the best deal is not for the faint of heart, or the hard core vacation planners. If you are the type that has to know exactly where you are going, and which particular hotel you will be staying, last minute trips are obviously not for you. However for the more adventuresome and budget minded, just viewing all the available trips you can take can be quite exciting.

A young couple recently had tentative plans of a vacation in Toronto, Canada, and ended up in Paris, France for the same amount of money they had originally planned to spend. Another group of friends thought Mexico would be the perfect destination, but ended up saving over $350 per person on a great vacation in Aruba. Two longtime friends had their limited budgets set on Jamaica, and one week before they were scheduled to go on vacation, the lucked out and found the perfect Jamaican hideaway.

Another target group for last minute vacations are the people that love last minute vacations. Many of the vacation time frames fit perfectly into a long weekend, and getting away at the spur of the moment with a great savings is quite an attractive proposal. It’s refreshing to take Thursday and Friday off from work, and spend three or four days on a mini vacation, and come back to work completely refreshed the following Monday. Other vacationers save all year long, and take three or four mini last minute vacations within a year. These travelers know the value of a dollar, and they stretch what some travelers pay for a typical one week vacation into three or four mini vacations, all in exciting destinations.

Other great excuses for last minute trips are job stress, just plain boredom, or Spring has not arrived soon enough for those who have endured the snow and ice. Others take off right before the holidays with extra days off from work, providing the perfect opportunity for a mini vacation.

So while there are many reasons last minute trips are popular with travelers, they all share one common goal – savings up to 70% on their vacations.

Learn About the Incredible Windsor Castle June 16, 2008

Samuel Pepys proclaimed the Castle to be “the single most loving castle in the world.” That was stated in sixteen-sixty-six and the same has been said today. If you are travelling to England then why not visit Windsor Castle, with Enjoy England.

Windsor Castle Enthralling History:

The beginning of Windsor were in the beginning of the 7th century Saxon hamlet of Windlesora, where the recent day village of Old Windsor is. The town of Windsor is rightly branded as “New Windsor” – the word “new” being taken in a relative way!

Windsor Castle put together by the distinguished William the Conqueror, as a result of his assault of England in ten sixty-six. The original frame was constructed from lumber with sol ramparts. The Castle held an obvious tactical location on a steep hill high above the River Thames, and was a fraction of a band of fortresses around London, with the Tower of London, one whole days trip away, at its middle.

The Castle was soon remade in stone, and increased in value over the subsequent years. Later on Henry the 2nd created the Round Tower & the original stone outer wall. Following the English Civil War, the structure’s principal role became that of a royal palace. The Castle has remained significantly unaffected ever since the beginning of the nineteenth century, apart from the renovation effort following the awful fire.

The average lawn Care and Landscaping franchises like to keep the day to day operations simple and streamline the business only doing tasks like cutting grass, weeding, and trimming hedges. Then there are lawn care service providers that offer services dealing with pesticides and other important chemicals. With any type of yard, whatever it might be, there are people out there needed to do the work.

Before investing your life savings on a lawn care business you have to consider a few things. One is that the work is seasonal. The 3 Most Effective Methods to Determine Your Company’s Value

Filed under: Entrepreneurs @ 10:41 am

How much is your company worth? How much of that worth is attributable to your performance? Is a valuation for estate, or divorce, purposes a true reflection of the business worth? These are tough questions and they make calculating the selling price of a closely held company difficult.

Although there are three generally used methods of valuation — industry norms (usually based upon some multiple of earnings computation), comparable sales of public companies, and formula approaches — no one method does a consistently good job of expressing the value of the closely held business for purposes of (the various types of) sale.

Attempting to consider a purchasing decision, or structure a selling price, on factual data (when available and confirmed) is, however, a worthwhile of estimating approximate value. Collectively used, these 3 valuation methods can help establish an objective range of value, which provides the basis for successful negotiations and sale.

Even with objective values, the watchword in buying a closely held business remains, Buyer Beware. The closely held company is one of those strange animals that can alternately command pennies or fortunes. It can be, and often is, worth whatever you can get for it. What you value and how you value it, are critical to the process. Some items that had been deeply discounted or handled as contingent liabilities in prior years are now viewed more as key elements in a sale – the value of key employees and contractors governed by sound (and enforceable) golden handcuffs and the value of software licenses, for example.

Valuations for estate purposes, or equitable distribution (divorce), however, are seldom reflective of a true selling price. That’s not their purpose. Use such values warily when considering a sale. Also, be aware that a sale in too close proximity to a key owner’s death or divorce might result in the sale being challenged if the value is significantly different.

In preparing to conduct a valuation, a true picture of the company’s performance must be prepared. Unfortunately, the tax code is structured in such a way that there is little incentive for the private company to show comparable profits to its publicly traded counterparts.

Thus, declared earnings often do not mean much. Before applying any model, a valuation expert will need to “recast” the financial statement, taking tax shelter considerations out of the picture and presenting new numbers based on what the company’s performance would look like if run by hired managers.

In the industry norm method, the company will be compared with other assumedly similar companies in their industry that have sold at various multiples of (recast) earnings. That’s OK if the company is truly a typical company. If the company has either proprietary products or services or market position that make them unique, the multiples approach negates that uniqueness.

The comparable sales method presents similar problems. Are the sales being compared truly comparable? Few public companies have the same infrastructure as their privately held counterparts. Key to a comparable sales method working is the ability to compare “apples and apples”.

There are dozens of formulas used in valuation analysis. Formulas can establish ranges of values. Using both the right formulas and knowing how to interpret them for a given business can give a close indication of true value, but ratios derived from “norms” (averages) also produce a leveling effect. Confused? What is your company worth? It’s worth whatever you, the seller, will accept. It’s worth whatever the purchaser is willing to pay you. Reviewing objectively prepared vales and going over them help bring a sense of reality to a transaction that can be very emotional. Using traditional valuation methods help to establish guidelines, which usually put buyer and seller in the same ballpark.

Selling a family or entrepreneurial, business isn’t like selling a product or even a service; it’s like selling a piece of yourself. If you engage the right advisors, give yourself time (usually 1-3, or more years) to find the best buyers and are realistic about the possible outcomes, you can increase the likelihood of achieving a successful sale. And what’s that really worth?
