Access To The Internet

London web design service January 8, 2009

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 12:55 pm

If you have a business, big or small you may be thinking of getting yourself a website.

The world wide web is another way of spreading your message or selling your product.

First you need to find somebody or a company to build and design your website. Some web designers charge a huge amount of money so it is quite difficult to make the right choice. Due to the high number of people offering these web design services, you should be able to get a cheap and affordable deal.

One area you could try first is online auction websites such as ebay. There may well be a new company who is just starting out and who are looking at building up a portfolio. They may well at this early stage be offering their services quite cheaply. This method also applys to web promotion and optimisation/optimization.

Alternativerly I advise people to look into the yellow pages, look on the internet or ask family and friends if they know of anybody.

You are normally able to find somebody who will do a very good job and will design you a professional looking website at an affordable price.

Always look at the portfolio page and have a look at the websites they have already built. It might be worth seeing what the page rank of these websites are like and you are also looking to see if you like the style.

Once the web designer has built your website ask them if they would add a link from their homepage to your new website. Also ask them if they would submit the site to all of the search engines.

Moment of Magic January 5, 2009

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 7:06 pm

Laughter may or may not be a shock, relieved, but its’ therapeutic effects are recognised in most cultures. It allows a positive distractive moment or moments. When things are tough, rough, overbearing or endless, a quick laugh can help to transcend an obsessive reality.

Where could the harm lie?

Where the outcome is refreshment, where is the loss? A few moments of production lost to relaxation, perhaps, couldn’t be considered a waste.

When a busy life is led, how could such a short reprieve be such a long loss?

It is an area of philosophy for those who like to compartmentalise, and an area of spiritualism, such is its’ power, to some who don’t need to put it anywhere.

Children are encouraged to participate in laughter, by adults, who often forget the reason for it. Why is it encouraged, if unnecessary? Perhaps it is a social tool and a tool to project hope. Hope, which is spiritualism, must go some way in forgetting the immediate, and sometimes the immediate, needs to be forgotten.

It is probably true that most people obsess, almost to the point of mental paralysis, with no major benefits. Obsession and focus can get many things accomplished, and also leave many things forgotten or overlooked. Multi-directional focus and the impartiality needed to do it, cannot be done by everyone, and is therefore too much effort for too little return.

A moment to refresh and relax is generally put into boxes such as meditation, and the disciplines that bring it. A grown man with a “macho” background wouldn’t (his reasons are many) or couldn’t be seen to participate in Yoga, for example only, but can easily interact with the cross-platform of generally accepted, “laughter”.

A relatively difficult physical position is not necessary for temporary mental migration, and indeed, a particular type of costume designed to facilitate physical positions can be left to those who are comfortable with such costumes.

So, while disciplines are of great benefit, mentally and physically, they don’t embrace all, as all can’t easily be embraced.

As children are encouraged to forget the enormity of the moment, who is going to look out for the rest of us? The moments can still be enormous, and some will say that the best days of your life is when you are young. There is more to consider, with age, as more appears to be present, to consider.

Still though, most grief and its’ facets, are personal. Your pain is unique, in much the same way that your “toothache” is always more painful than the stories of other peoples’ toothaches.

It probably follows then that your enormous moment is not much different than the moments of another, except it is more personal. The point of that is while someone else can be told to cheer up, so can you, and you can tell yourself.

“You either have to know this, or use something that will bring the same results”.

“A sense of humour is a sense of spiritualism, or a sense to achieve it”.

Humour is more universally social and less universally personal than negative emotions. Indeed, it a morale booster with known value in production, and the only thing of value in a predominately negative situation.

Plans for all the expenses, the activities involved, the strategies that you will be doing in your business and other constructive factors. If you do this, it will keep you motivated throughout your business from start to end – a successful way on top!

Summary of Principles Chapters 1 thru 16 January 4, 2009

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 9:57 pm

Last chapter I told you I was going to summarize the principals of being an entrepreneur in these first 16 chapters.

PRINCIPAL 1: Trust your instincts to connect you to that infinite intelligence available to you.

Over and over and over in my life I have learned that when you are trying to create a business you will run into seemingly unsurmountable odds. But if you want to be an entrepreneur you can’t stop.

There are many ways you can deal with unsurmountable odds, but one is a great gift from (fill in your blank here)__________, (eg. God, Universe, Goddess, infinite intelligence, or whoever or whatever you believe to be a supreme force in the universe).

This gift almost always works once you yourself have tried to do it on your own in every concievable way. You have to think of every possible solution, but once you have exhausted your resources, put the question you need answered to your subconsious mind and then forget about it.

Edison did this constantly. When he was stumped he would take a cat nap and awake with the answer.

You have heard I am sure many times people saying, “I just woke up and had the answer.” Think about it.

So a very important principal is to trust your instincts.

Your instincts will guide you if you have done your share of the hard work in trying to solve the problem yourself. But at some point you have to let go of it and just wait for the answer.

PRINCIPAL 2: Be open minded in looking for what people want to buy and how to present it to them.

The next thing I learned was to test different sales approaches and different products until you find out what it is people want.

It is much easier to sell products people want then to try to convince them to buy something they don’t want.

It is also important to get the feedback personally. Since I did most of my sales as a child going door to door, I got to see exactly how people responded to different products and sales approaches.

Books are great to help you learn different sales closes or presentations. And there are tons of opportunities on what to sell. But until you test them out yourself you will not know what works for you and you need to experience people’s reaction to the products.

Don’t be afraid to test out different products or services until you find the one that gets you AND your customers excited. If you sell products or services that excite you, and your customers are receptive to them, you have a winner.

PRINCIPAL 3:

Persistance wins out in the long run. Remember how I returned to the fellow that turned me down every week or more for over a year? Eventually I found the service he wanted and the presentation. Just don’t quit.

Remember how I eventually took over all my competitors lawn mowing jobs by must persistantly being available to his customers? Just don’t quit.

This does not necessary mean to hound a person to death, but you should politely follow up as long as possible until they make it clear not to contact them anymore.

Also the persistance of performing your sales routines is important. Keep going to new prospects, keep perfecting your products and services, just keep on and keep on. Dont’ stop

I read a story this week about the man that invented Velcro back in 1955. He was sure that people would want this product. He worked on it for 6 years and lost everything he had working on it until finally he ended up in a cabin in the mountains still trying to solve the problem.

He finally did solve the problem and by 1958 was selling 50 million dollars worth per year of his velcro invention.

Thomas Edison found 10,000 ways a light bulb would not work before finding the right way.

Being an Entrepreneur requires a lot of persistances. It is not all fun and games, but the rewards can be extravagant if you do not quit.

PRINCIPAL 4: You cannot hear them say no.

When someone tells you no, just consider it another learned lesson. It is not a judgement against you, it simply means you did not have the product or service or presentation that person at that time needed.

But that does not mean you will not eventually find the product or service or presentation that person will need. Just don’t give up and dont’ say no.

Just go on to the next person and keep going through all your prospects. Check back with the people that told you no in a fair amount of time with another offer or another product or another presentation.

They said no before to a different offer or product or presentation, not the next one you are offering.

PRINCIPAL 5: Be gentle.

The only way people are going to let you contact them over and over is if you are polite, gentle, and respectful.

Don’t be pushy. Don’t be rude. Don’t interrupt.

ALWAYS LISTEN. Always CARE about your prospect.

Always try to see how you can help your prospect.

I will be presenting more principals in how to be an entrepreneur over the next chapters, first in story form and then in summary.

Thank you for being my reader!!

Motivation: 5 Powerful Emotions You Can Use

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 8:16 pm

Experiencing strong emotions is not uncommon. What is uncommon is applying these emotions to motivate you to change and grow.

Having said that, here are five emotional states that can change your life, if you act on them:

commitment, desire, disgust, decision and focus.

Commitment

If you are committed there is always a way, and usually more than one way. The key phrase here is if you are committed. Commitment to a relationship, exercise, career or achieving goals means that no matter what, I’m sticking to it, I’m seeing this through.

One of the nice things is that when you are committed to something, you seem to find yourself involved with other committed people.

The late singer-songwriter Harry Chapin said “Whether it’s to a cause, a relationship or something else, when you hang out with people who are committed, you hang out with the folks with the live hearts, the live minds, the live eyes.”

Applied to marriage, this notion of commitment is much more than just being committed to avoiding divorce. It’s the commitment that you will do everything in your power to make the relationship a great place to be.

Desire

“How bad do you want to beat Edgewater?” my high school football coach screamed in my face when he caught me going a little too easy one day in practice. That one has stayed with me because he was right: The amount of desire I had that day was showing up in the actions I chose to take.

Desire is reflected in your actions. Desire with little or no action is not worth much. So ask yourself frequently, “How much do I want this?”

Disgust

Disgust is not typically an emotion associated with positive change. Or is it?

Have you ever been disgusted with a situation, a relationship or yourself?

Most of us have, of course. But have you ever been so disgusted that you were motivated to change no matter what? Being sick and tired of being sick and tired with something can be a fantastic motivator for change when you decide “no more, not again, not ever!”

Decision

The root word for decision is incision, which means to cut. So when you decide, really decide, that something will be different in your life, you “cut off” any other possibility. And it’s reflected in your view of and attitude toward life.

Bill Marriott of Marriott Hotels said, “Failure? I’ve never encountered it. I just stumbled over a few temporary setbacks.”

That’s decision in motion.

Focus

Each one of us is bombarded every day with hundreds of things trying to get our attention. Focus is an emotional state that pulls together commitment desire, disgust and decision.

When I see people struggling with where they want to go, one of the first places I look is their power of focus. We tend to be pulled toward that which we focus on. Lack of focus usually equals lack of success and achievement.

Focus on all the distractions pulling for your attention, and you’re not likely to get where you want to go. Focus on where you want to go and you are likely to get there.

Commitment, desire, disgust, decision and focus.

Don’t just experience these emotional states, apply them to create the life you desire.

Website Design and Development

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 1:08 pm

There’s two ways to get a website developed – pay, or design it yourself. If you’ve chosen the latter, you’ll need several things. First, you’ll need web hosting. Web hosting can range from $2 to $200 per month, depending on your needs. Consult a web hosting review site for more information. Next, you’ll have to have some background in computing or internet programming. You’ll need to know at least HTML. Thirdly, you’ll have to have a way to upload your files. Some hosts have online uploads, others require FTP.

Today’s web design encompasses many different technologies that must blend seamlessly to allow for the best combination of form and function in a site. If you’ve decided to design your first website, it can be a daunting task. Rather, most professionals suggest finding a low-cost alternative. Many web developers have a forte – either design or programming. Finding a well-rounded website design firm or individual is difficult, but the business’ portfolio is the best indication.

In order to be certain of the firm’s abilities, further scrutinizing is imperative. The firm has a nice looking site that flows well and has an aesthetic appeal, a great testament to their abilities. But does this eye for the creative flow through its clients’ sites, too? It’s importance to be certain of this question. Browsing through the portfolio alone often isn’t enough. Get feedback from the clients if possible (with the firm’s approval). Are they satisfied? Do they feel that the firm was easy to work with? And moreover, is there site an adequate representation of what they wanted?

Once you’ve found a firm that you feel is worthwhile, it’s time to ask for a quote. Hopefully, the firm has a questionnaire that you can easily fill out. These surveys will ask questions about how many pages your site will have, whether writing is necessary, and if there is any extra functionality. You probably already have a budget in mind, but it’s better for a company to tell you what they think the work is worth. They know how many hours of work are involved, and will (hopefully) break down the price for you to let you know exactly what you’re paying for. Web design can range from $5 to $100 per hour, and many web designers have a forte that they will charge more for. Sometimes, it’s even necessary to work with multiple firms to get the best deal.

Today’s trend is outsourcing. Many Indian and other overseas programmers and designers are willing to work for exponentially less than American web designers. This trend has its pros and cons. While the money saved is beneficial, the overseas designers rarely speak fluent English. Communication is an imperative part of web design, and often projects can go awry without it.

Obviously, you have a difficult design ahead of you. With all the great web design firms out there, sometimes cost does equal quality. Make a decision, get a second opinion, and always be thorough in your explanation of what you’re looking for.

Take a look through Red Fly’s portfolio, compare to other Irish web design firms, and you’ll see that the company has a lot to offer.

Never Hire A “Maybe” Salesperson January 2, 2009

Filed under: Sales Parlor @ 9:31 pm

Here’s a key idea when you’re hiring sales people. The title of this is called: If the Answer is Maybe, than It’s No. How many times have you gone through the process of hiring a sales person and you just weren’t sure? You’ve gone through several sets of interviews, you’ve brought your team together, you’ve asked all the right questions, you’ve gathered all of the sales history performance from their past. Maybe you’ve even taken them through a sales aptitude test or some sort of profile but there’s still something about the candidate that just makes you uneasy. You’ve even maybe checked their references and of course, everybody’s references check out perfectly, but for some reason, this candidate, they look like they have the all the right answers, they say all the right things, but is still doesn’t quite feel right. Well, I’m here to tell you that the absolute rule of thumb when you’re going through that process and you’re about to hire a candidate, is say no.

If it doesn’t feel right, if there’s something that sets you off, that indicates to you that a candidate is less than perfect, that something doesn’t quite line up, go with your gut, go with your intuition, understand that that’s a much more powerful vehicle than all the data gathering, all the behavioral interviewing, all of the sales testing and profiling put together. Intuition is the most powerful thing that you have when it comes to choosing which are the good sales people to hire and which ones you need to pass on.

So next time you come right up against the edge and you’re wondering whether or not you should hire a sales person, stall. Say no or go back to the drawing board and find new candidates. Once you bring some new candidates to the table, if the candidate that you passed on before seems enticing, bring them back into the mix against the other people that you’re measuring in the next round and figure out whether or not what you saw the first time was right or not. But the key is, to remember if the answer is maybe, when it comes to hiring a sales person, than just say no.

How To Dance With Life January 1, 2009

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 9:17 pm

Fortunate, indeed, is the man who takes exactly the right measure of himself, and holds a just balance between what he can acquire and what he can use.~Peter Latham (1789-1875)

In the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, right action and right living create a life of harmony and delight.

When a balance occurs between opposing forces, then your life flourishes.

When action is followed by rest, when initiative is followed by reflection, and when willful intent is followed by utter surrender, then you are following a path of optimum power.

I think the most fascinating example of what balance in the cosmos can do is in the story of how the ancient wisdom of the East has merged with modern scientific reckoning.

Six thousand years ago, sages plotted the web and woof of the universe, using esoteric meditative techniques, and today, modern scientists, using unbelievable technologcal probes, have come to the same conclusions about the nature of the cosmos.

A rishi from ancient India and a modern quantum physicist from Harvard university would have a fascinating discussion about how the universe is glued together.

The new balance between East and West, Metaphysics and Science, right-brain thinking and left-brain thinking has revealed a marvelous design to the structure of reality.

Similarly, we as individuals, living in a time when the most amazing possibilities are available, would be wise to take stock of who we are and what we can become and then balance out our dreams with the opportunity for their realization.

Imagine, for a moment, how your life might improve if you were to attain a balance in all your affairs, enjoying optimum relationships, financial success, vibrant health, and an ongoing education about the world.

I believe that when your life is in balance, everything will take on a magical quality. Things will fall into place almost effortlessly. Your experience of being alive will be deeper, richer, and more fulfilling.

Balance is a personal, dynamic force that conserves energy, rejuvenates vision, and harmonizes the disparate aspects of a life.

A person in balance finds a way to maximize resources and minimize pockets of scarcity.

When we can identify what our lives stand for, then we will attain the harmony we need to organize our experiences to be deeply meaningful, uplifting, and gratifying.
