Access To The Internet

Relation between good hosting & internet marketing. February 19, 2009

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 3:44 pm

World is growing with internet. The use of internet has been increased up to more than 1000 times and because of this increment in internet visitors, everybody is coming on online business through search engine optimization and other internet marketing activities or tool that can help increasing his/her organization business and all this is possible with a brand new website. A website making is not a big task but when it comes to a website that really does business through search engines or any other marketing activities, this all depends on number of factors that really helps your online business. I would like to say with the confidence if you are not hosted on a good server you must not think about the marketing of any online business.

Let’s talk about couple of important point I choose to discuss -

Web Designing & Web hosting – Lets say you have chosen one of the best web designing company in your area to design & develop your website with the best of your knowledge and they have completed the website designing in couple of days now your website is ready to host on a server. May be you have already chosen another hosting company or it might be possible that the same company is hosting your website on their own servers. How to decide or how to choose a hosting company when you are ready to market your website over the internet. While choosing a hosting company for your internet marketing , you must be thinking about the prices and features and all other things you can think as a non IT professional. Or simple you will select the designing company server for your hosting because they can offer you discounted prices for the hosting package. And this is very true once you are working with a company and they recommend something that you need along with a discount (You think), you will simply go for this.

But

1 – Do you think that hosting package they are providing is really good for your online marketing…? 2 – Do you think the charges they are asking for hosting are genuine? 3 – Do you think the features they have with in the hosting pack are worth of the cost you paying..? 4 – Do you think this server will be able to run your website for 24 hours everyday..? 5 – Do you think this hosting server would be handling all of your internet visitor queries properly?

A number of other point are there in my mind I would like to discuss but I feel let me talk about the written point in details here only.

Available Internet Marketing are Search engine Optimization (SEO)- PPC, Website advertising, Online Paid marketing, adwords, adsense, and link exchange, CPM and other marketing activities.

I hope this SEO word is not a stranger with all the internet savvy now a days even most of the internet user says yes I can promote your website through search engine optimization over the Google, Yahoo, MSN and all. And I feel this is true because the use of internet has been greater than before and almost everybody knows about the google, yahoo and msn and all other engines. How they rank website and how they decide a website to rank. Anyways we were talking about the hosting. Lets say your site is well optimized and ranking well on all engines BUT when a user tries to open your website, It says page can not be found. The same page most of the site displays everyday, can not find server, or may be another message that server is down for maintenance kindly check back later. Now the point is if you are ranking well, your site is having quality content and everything is very good about your website then why choose a third class hosting package on a bad server. You worked hard in finding the visitor from the internet to come to your website and finally when arrive, all in vain. Simple he/she will try the website or try another webpage. So just because of a bad server all of your efforts go useless.

Not only SEO I am talking about but any of the marketing applied to your website. When a request has been sent to your server, your server must respond with in 3-5 seconds so that that can make sure your visitor to stay because your webpage processing bar is working but if a webpage does not open with in 10-20 seconds generally user close the windows and looks for the another step.

Here I have couple of good point you can read while selecting a hosting for your site.

1 – Try to check the other running website those are hosted on the same server. 2 – If possible send a personal request to the current running website owner to ask about the hosting and experience with the same. 3 – If possible ask your technical expert to involve in the selection of the hosting. 4 – Also check what all features & permission you have been given 5 – Check out the prices you have been charged and what is the market cost. 6 – Don’t go for the discounted rates as this might be the another wrong decision while selecting a package. 7 – Go for the brand name hosting company or check out the complete plan and then choose a package. 8 – Try to check how many domains are hosted on the same server. This will ensure you the server performance. 9 – Go for the best hosting; don’t go for the discounted prices.

I hope all these point will help you in a good hosting company selection while marketing a website. You go any marketing for your website but if you have got the best server that can respond to your online clients or visitors immediately.

Market a good website with good content hosted on a good server with qualified internet marketing strategist would be the best solutions for your internet business.

Hiring a Graphic Designer

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 2:18 am

You’ve come up with a great product. You’ve got the sales letter written for your website. Now you need the graphic design to complement your product and the text that describes it. Not being artistically inclined or adept at the technicalities of computer graphics, you decide you need some help.

You may be thinking, “I’m not sure I can afford to hire a professional graphic designer.” The truth of the matter is that you most likely can’t afford not too.

Why?

A poorly designed web site, or a site that is glaring “homemade, homemade, homemade” gives the impression that the product or service it is promoting is of the same quality. As you’ve heard before- People do judge a book by its cover. Your book’s cover is your web site.

Fact of Life on the Internet- If your entire site doesn’t look professionally designed you’ve got major problems. At best making a profit with a poorly designed website is going to be a struggle.

So… you decide maybe your site does need the touch of a pro. Who do you choose?

As you begin your search you’re obviously going to try and make sure you get the best “bang for your buck”. Before you make a decision make sure all your questions are answered, preferably in writing. Some questions that you will definitely want answers for are listed below.

1) Is this person a professional? (Ask to see samples of their work)

2) Is this person trustworthy? (Ask how long they’ve been in business, and if they can provide references)

3) Are the prices fair and reasonable? (Make it clear you will be getting more than one proposal on the work you need)

4) Will I get the quality I need? (Make sure upfront that the professional you’re hiring will do revisions if necessary.)

Many of these questions can often be answered while viewing the designer’s own site. It will give you an instant review of their work. Often there will also a page containing samples of their work. If not, don’t hesitate to ask.

Fine Snow All over Europe February 16, 2009

We have had nearly 1.5 metres of snow during the week. The snowfall has been so prolonged that skiing lifts have been closed, the funicular has been stopping at Chamonix train station and not going to Les Grands Montets. Some roads were blocked and avalanche announcements issued.

Contrast this to two winter seasons past, when there was the unbelievably hot Jan weather, mud appearing on the ski slopes, and warnings that climate change would mean the death of the ski industry in the French Alps. Highlighting this the OECD’s report from winter 2007 predicted that global warming would make snowboarding too expensive for the majority of snowboarders, with a 3rd of ski resorts shutting with the thawing of glaciers. Scientists insist that it’s unimaginable to assign the seasonal differences in the snow conditions to the effects of climate change.

We may be experiencing the deepest downturn in almost 25 yrs, and the Pound has dropped to new levels versus the euro, but the skiing is first-class, and the last reservations show that snowboarders are eager to revel in the supreme snow conditions with our ski accommodation reserved. It is definitely the best in ten winter seasons, and many are stating its the finest ski snowboarding conditions in at least ten winters.

Even so remember that this amount of snow means high risks of avalanche.

Build Your Motivational Muscles February 14, 2009

Building up your motivational muscles – You see, I believe that just as we run, work-out, or exercise to build and condition our muscles and to get in good physical health, so can we condition our mental muscles…

I am a firm believer that each of us can condition ourselves to see the best in our day by introducing positive actions.

Unlike its sister, physical conditioning… Positive conditioning won’t even leave you feeling all sweaty! So now the question is how do we do this.

Here are a few tips that I use and may work for you as well…

1) Make your vehicle a success classroom! Keep a healthy supply of positive books on tape handy. Anything you have ever wanted to learn can be done in the same time you would normally be listening to the latest top 40 hits.

2) Keep a good book handy. Approach this from the standpoint that each time you dedicate to reading something positive you are actually building up anti-negatives if you will.

3) Be sure and keep a personal success journal. This will offer you the needed fuel to be able to look back and realize that you are making great gains. Particularly during the times you might feel otherwise.

I hope you have found these helpful.

Here’s to your success, Josh Hinds

Accounting Software February 12, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 3:28 am

Bookkeeping is one of the most vital processes in any business. More than developing products and selling, it’s effective management of the flow of revenues and expenditures that ultimately makes a business fail or succeed. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have extensive accounting experience – just invest in accounting software, and you’re good to go.

But with the many choices available, how do you know which kind is best for you? Here are some questions to ask yourself.

What is your budget? Determine how much you are willing to spend on your accounting software to help limit your choices. As a general rule, software programs with more features have higher price tags, so be prepared to spend more if you need a lot of functionalities. You would be surprised to find very good accounting software for amazingly low prices, though, especially the ones designed for small businesses. Keep your mind (and eyes) open.

Is it user-friendly? To cut the downtime in training your staff or yourself to handle the software, it has to be easy to use in the first place. Look for something that is simple with regard to three aspects: installation, set up, and navigation.

Does it have all the accounting modules and reporting categories you need? The most basic modules that accounting software must include are accounts-payable and accounts-receivable modules. You should also look for simple reporting categories that allow you to easily generate and print reports such as cash flow for a customized period, forecast reports, receivables reports, etc.

It’s a good idea to invest in slightly more expensive but very helpful expandable features; the software must be able to handle your growth (if you add a product line or more employees on the payroll, for example).

Does it offer after-sales support? Choose accounting software that comes with a complete FAQ package (for both technical and accounting topics), a toll-free call center, and maybe even live online support.

Doing The Groundwork – Laying The Foundations For Your Future February 11, 2009

Filed under: School of Self Improvement @ 6:58 am

“I respect the man who knows distinctly what he wishes. The greater part of all mischief in the world arises from the fact that men do not sufficiently understand their own aims. They have undertaken to build a tower, and spend no more labor on the foundation than would be necessary to erect a hut.”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) – German writer, scientist, master of poetry, drama and novel

Recently, I attended a course which was aimed mainly at people who want to start their own business, or in my case, who want to make sure that they have done everything correctly when setting up their business. The attendees ranged from those whose business was just an idea and they were there to find out what they need to do to get it up and running, to those who were further advanced and nearly ready to go. What has become apparent to me is that it doesn’t matter what your idea is and how advanced you are in your plans and arrangements, if you haven’t done the groundwork your business will be on very shaky foundations. This relates to so many things we aim to achieve in life. The groundwork may be quite tedious and laborious, but without it, the rest will either never be constructed, or if it is, it will come tumbling down around your ears very dramatically!

What foundations do you need to put in place to give you a firm start? What are your challenges? What do you need to face up to? Who do you need to talk to, to seek advice or assistance from? Are there courses being offered in your area that could help you build strong and stable foundations for your future? Take action to get those first blocks in place to move you forward.

So many times I hear ‘I know what I should be doing.’ If that is really the case, why not make this the day to start doing it? Stop putting it off. And if you really don’t believe that you need to do it, forget about it. If you are not convinced that it is something that you need to be doing, then you are never going to put in the effort to do it properly, if at all. And if it really needs to be done, either do it yourself as best you can and get it out of the way, or find someone else who is willing to do it for you.

What are your dreams? Have you really thought them through? What can you do today that will bring you closer to those dreams? You may have to break down from there to now in smaller steps, but if you plan it correctly those steps will be steady and sure and will lead you to achieve your goals.

Get going! Putting the groundwork in and then following through requires you to be fit for the job. Have you looked at the people on a building site, especially those who are involved in the first stages of getting the foundations in correctly? Have you ever seen one who was unfit and not able to do their share? It is a very physical job and those who aren’t up to it soon fall by the wayside. Get fit for your future by putting the effort in now and sticking to it.

Starting something new takes commitment. Have a really good think about what you are doing and whether you really want to be doing it. If you are, then do it to the best of your ability – if not better! This is for you, so go for it!

Even if you are past the foundation stages of what you are doing, it never hurts to add something fresh to your thinking and actions. Is there something new that you could introduce to add value to what you are doing? Is there someone whose ideas or expertise you think would help to move things along? Don’t get stuck in the mindset of ‘this is the way it’s always been done’. Sometimes the way it has always been done is fine, but often we should re-examine our practices and processes and see if they need a little adjustment. What do you think needs tweaking for you?

Sometimes we need to approach challenges and problems by thinking ‘out of the box’. It’s time to use your creativity. Use your vision and instincts, as well as your experience and skills to construct new ways of doing things.

Often it seems that doing the groundwork can appear a thankless task. It is often boring and time-consuming, but time and time again those people who have skipped over that bit have had their project and dreams collapse around them. Don’t let that be you. Put the foundations in as best as you can and the rest of the construction will rise accordingly – strong, stable and secure.

Browser Compatibility February 10, 2009

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 5:25 pm

Internet Explorer, created by microsoft has been the most popular web browser for many years. But the gap is shrinking with the release of Mozilla Firefox, by an open source community.

At the last count it is said that there are 64 million firefox users on the internet. Growing in massive numbers by the day.

So, the issue with browser compatibility is at its highest importance. The way browsers are constructed, they can show a webpage slightly differently.

For instance, the IFRAME tag shows perfectly in Internet Explorer but does not show in Firefox. This is only one of many instances of none browser compatibility.

Therefore, webmasters should be making sure their web page is viewable in both internet explorer and firefox equally. If it doesnt, then they risk loosing a large percentage of web users. There is nothing worse than surfing a web site and not being able to see it properly in a particular browser.

The solution for webmasters is to make all their pages XHTML transitional. Web sites that validate to this, have a higher chance of being viewed correctly in all major browsers.

XHTML is the next generation web language, and is said to replace HTML eventually. XHTML was released in January 2000.

XHTML is not a difficult language to learn, it is basically identical to HTML but the main difference is that tags in XHTML always have an end tag.

For example, a IMG SRC tag in HTML has no end tag. In XHTML the IMG SRC tag has the end tag of />

More information on learning XHTML can be found at http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_intro.asp

Once you have constructed your XHTML web page then you can validate it at http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_validate.asp

Further, to ensure near complete browser compatibility you can validate any stylesheet here : http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

FiOS TV

In September 2005, Verizon put out FiOS TV to cater to a single market in Texas. Twenty-eight months later, over a million people across the US have subscribed to Verizon’s FiOS TV.

In the third quarter of 2007, Verizon surpassed Cable One to become the tenth largest cable provider in America, just on the strength of this technology.

Any one million can be drawn to FiOS TV’s offer; what sets FiOS TV apart is that the service uses fiber optics rather than cable. It gives FiOS TV that edge of crystal-clear digital imagery as well as world-shaking acoustics. Fiber optic networks render pictures on the screen realistically, with lifelike color and flawless sound.

FiOS TV subscribers are also treated to a vast library of the most recent top-grossing films, sports shows, children’s programs and more. FiOS TV comes equipped with a dual-tuner DVR too so that users can rewind, forward and pause shows. One can even record a show while watching another.

FiOS TV is also a veritable babel of over a dozen international premium channels like TV5, TV Japan, ART and RAI. What’s more, one can watch these channels, from ESPN to TNT, in eye-popping high definition resolution.

Verizon deserves to reap all its rewards; with this level of picture quality, customers are certainly not complaining.

Your Company’s Web Site – Quality Approach February 8, 2009

Filed under: House Of Websters @ 6:57 am

This is the second segment of a three-part series that addresses the guidelines on how to plan, present and develop your company’s website. In part one; we explored the importance of having a professional website that represents your company online. In part two; we will identify the quality approach of planning your company’s website.

Designing and developing a quality website. When you hire a team to create or redesign your company’s website, keep in mind that the basic concepts of quality also apply. They are:

Continuous Improvement
Leave space to grow and make what is good now even better. Your company will improve through the years and so should your website, but this does not mean you need a new design every year! Leave room for improvement; build a quality website that can be easily updated to reflect the changes in your company.

Value of Quality
A well-designed and developed website does not cost; it pays! This is an investment that will bring you return in the form of satisfied clients. On the other hand, the cost of a poorly developed website can be a price that most companies pay for unknowingly – that is the price of non-quality. If your company’s website reflects the high standards of your company, it will bring you more clients; however, if your company’s website does not mirror the image you are trying to build, it will drive visitors and potential clients away.

Visitor Satisfaction
Nothing is worse than getting lost within in a poor quality website, or being on a site and unable to find the information you need. Or when text is difficult to read because of site colour combinations. Have you ever been frustrated after clicking on a link and finding that the page no longer exists?

These and other web site issues reflect on your company’s image. If a website is not well built, it sends the message that your company is not well structured; if your website has dead ends, it suggests that your company is not well managed.

Raise the bar – provide a well-structured and managed quality website, and exceed your client’s expectations.

Problem Solving
A quality website must anticipate the needs of the visitor. Since a company representative is unavailable to deal with any prospective problems that may occur while a visitor is browsing your site, plan ahead and crosscheck all possible scenarios. Let’s translate this into Quality terms:

1. Define the problem: Make a list of potential problems users may experience when browsing your website. This will maximize the solutions and keep a quality focus.

2. Generate alternative solutions: Once potential problems have been identified, make a list of possible solutions that deal with each problem. Implement this procedure to ensure that your visitors have an enjoyable visit to your site.

3. Evaluate and select alternatives: Choose a solution that is right for your website to ensure that your target audience will know what to expect should a problem arise, and how to use the feature you provided. It is unhelpful if the solutions you provide are causing a visitor more problems. Example: Your company manufactures hardware and a website visitor would like a copy of your catalog; you provide an online form for visitors to complete in order to receive the catalog in the mail. Sufficient? Not really. It may take a week for that catalog to reach your prospective client. Consider providing visitors with a version of the catalogue online that can either be printed or downloaded as a PDF.

4. Implement and follow up on the solution: Simply adding solutions will not fix the problem; you must ensure that each solution works. For example, if you request an online form be completed in order to download the above-mentioned PDF catalog, how can you be certain people are actually submitting the form? Are they finding it easy to complete? Are they hitting the “Submit” bottom and downloading the catalogue in PDF format? This is where “follow up” becomes important. But how can a company follow up if website visitors never submitted the form that would have allowed for an easy follow up in the first place? You (or your webmaster or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) consultant) should monitor the stats of your website and compare how many visitors your form page had against the visitors your PDF catalog page had. If you have 70% less visitors on your PDF catalog page than on your form page, this would suggest a problem that has not been thoroughly solved.

Planning for the Future
Plan your website to grow with your company. When a facility is built to house a company for 10 years, plans include a good-sized parking lot, ideal kitchen facilities, more than one washroom, several plugs for countless electronic devices, etc. The same rings true for your website- it should be built to evolve. As products and services develop, or contact information changes, your website changes too. Build to grow!

Quality Website — Quality Assurance & Quality Control
A website design company should ensure that a website will be built to the complete satisfaction of the client (you), and be customized to that client’s needs. Make sure your website is functional and user friendly, and that usability testing takes place. Usability testing is a form of website quality control, and it ensures that your site is visible by different types of browsers and that visitors will not get lost.

Supplier Quality
Finally, a website design company must provide good service and a custom product that matches all your needs. This does not have to cost a fortune, nor does the company requesting a new or redesigned website need to be a large one. Ask questions before committing to a design team; make sure they understand your needs. Check their portfolio and references. Nothing speaks louder than current clients who are satisfied with the results of their new website.

Summary: Planning a quality website and seeking the company that will undertake its creation is a major step in promoting your company and the products and services you offer. The same care you take in planning the growth of your company, and the quality provided by the products and/or services you offer should be transmitted in a professional, well-planned website. List your priorities. Search for a good design company. Discuss your company needs, products and services. Plan for the future.

The Secret of How to Change Your Marriage February 4, 2009

Filed under: School of Relationships @ 3:54 pm

Do you hope every day that your spouse will change in some way? That he (or she) will finally “see the light” and recognize the “error of his ways”?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting a spouse to change as long as you don’t stop there. If you don’t take the next step, at some point you’ll start to feel helplessly dependent on your spouse’s choices and will be in danger of adopting a victim mentality.

Many spouses don’t know the secret of how to change a marital relationship into something different than it is currently. The temptation is to view change as rooted in the other person or “out there” somewhere outside of your control.

But, in reality, the ability to create change lies within you. You may have heard the saying, “Change is an inside job.” It’s true. And when you change yourself, then your relationship with your spouse, family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and acquaintances will also change.

This past week, I received an email from a woman I’ll call “Annie.” Annie was writing to tell me how much help she had received from the Keep Your Marriage book and bonus materials. I could tell from reading Annie’s email that she really understood the impact that making personal changes can have on a marriage.

Annie has granted her permission for me to share her email with you in hopes that it will provide help and inspiration. Here is an excerpt from her email:

“My husband moved out saying he was ‘unhappy’ but would say no more. I have spent the past few months in hell, but your advice gave me something to work on. I have now changed myself, my friends have noticed a big difference in me, and on New Year’s Eve, my husband, unprompted, told me he loved me.

“His leaving was a huge wakeup call for me, and although we still have things to work through, the important thing is that we are together. I will continue to eliminate those 21 marriage busters (I cringed when I realized I was guilty of every single one) and I have every hope that we will be celebrating many more wedding anniversaries.

Thank you again, and keep the daily email tips comingthey serve as a reminder that one can never take anything for granted, that love is precious and should be cherished, and that the key to changing your life lies not out there but within.”

Annie “gets it” that the secret to changing your marriage and your life lies within yourself. She made changes in herself that eventually made a difference in her marriage. In a follow-up email, Annie writes:

“…the important thing is to keep trying and don’t give in…I’m also now a great believer in time…often the effects of the words I said to my husband weren’t immediate, but given a little time they would sink in and they worked. Before I was the kind of person to demand answers and refuse to accept ‘I don’t know’ as valid. I would pick and chisel away until I thought I had the answer I wanted. I was chiseling away my marriage.

“There are still improvement to be made, but I have come to believe in this day and age we see films, advertising, etc. and are made to believe we should have this ideal of a marriage, and if it’s not like that then there is something wrong. They fail to mention that happy marriages take effort and work, that love isn’t always automatic but is an affirmation that should be made every day.

“I’d also like to add, before I go, that your advice has helped in other relationships toowith family and friends. I’ve become a much nicer person and a happier one too. It’s so true that you change the world about you by changing yourself.

“If I hadn’t taken your advice I could be facing a divorce right nowinstead I’m starting the New Year with a loving husband and a happy lifethank you again.”

Annie deserves the credit and kudos for putting consistent, hard work into working on herself. Many spouses read words of advice suggesting changes they can make, but they never implement the changes.

Annie resisted the temptation to blame her husband or sit back passively waiting for him to change. Instead, she chose to focus on putting energy and effort into improving herself and making needed changes. By doing so, she created a win-win situation for herself and for her marriage.

Now that you know Annie’s “secret” to changing her marriage, what are you going to do with this knowledge? If your marriage is going to be substantially different at the end of this calendar year, it’s time to get moving.
