In the last two sections we talked about expanding your games and using the notes feature. In this section, we’re going to talk about freeroll hunting and bonus hunting. If you’re a decent online poker player, then you’ll be able to make quite a bit of money just from freerolling, rakebacks, and bonus hunting. When you sign up on a site, you generally get an offer to get a match bonus for up to x% of your initial deposit, and many sites are trying to get these players to keep playing so they’re offering initial deposit bonus freerolls for new depositors.

You, as the up and coming online poker phenom, are going to take advantage of this. If you hunt hard enough you can find a schedule of freerolls and bonuses. For the bonuses I recommend the site bonuswhores.com as they have all the best bonuses available and are constantly updating. For the freerolls and big guaranteed tournaments, you should check out freerollsmonitor.com since they include all the freerolls that are coming up within the next hour.

If you bonus hunt and clear your bonuses, and start playing and winning the poker online freerolls, you’ll soon start to notice that you’re bankroll is doubling pretty quickly. And when this happens, you’ll know you’ve moved into that “beyond amateur” stage. Think about it, if you get a 110% bonus match up to 600 dollar and you invest 600 and clear your bonus, you just got a free 660 dollars. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Always Take a Free Card December 23, 2009

One of the biggest mistakes that rookies make is folding their hand when even though everyone in front of them folds. Even seasoned veterans will do this out of frustration at getting rags hand after hand.

A few years ago I was at a home poker game and eventually the poker blinds came around to me. I was pretty disappointed to see that I was dealt a 2-3 off-suit, and I waited for someone to raise me so that I could toss away the garbage in my hand. To my surprise, everybody limped in and I got to see the flop for free. It was late, and I’d had a slow night, so I was getting ready to toss my cards anyway out of frustration, but I fought off the idiot instinct and watched the flop.

I was glad that I did, as I watched a 3-3-2 with a spade draw come out to give me a full house, I slow played, called the few raises that came out, checked through the turn and watched the final spade come out on the river. It was beautiful-two people went all in, and I gladly called.

One of the sweetest moments in poker online is when you’re in the big blind position with a low to marginal hand and no one raises. It gets even sweeter when you hit on the flop, because no one ever suspects the big blind. The full boat just about tripled my stack and put me in the money-all from a hand that I almost threw away.

Paparazzi Photograph Chinese Lanterns November 13, 2009

Chinese Lanterns have been very fashionable this year and the team at Chinese Lanterns have really relished whipping out the camera to take lots of snaps of these beautiful objects cascading into the air.Well in all honesty we have been utilising digital cam’s as opposed to film due to the ease of functioning and adjustments of the photo’s;Fast edit and instant playback of shots as well as the storage of hundreds of snaps per memory stick is a very invoking quality. The storage limitation of my old polaroid 24 shots camera seems old school by comparability. Making videos by a simple wind of the dial is also a great feature for catching baby’s first steps or a Chinese Lantern cascading sky high.I recently bought a new camera and can assure you it was an committed and extended process. There are many different facets of the buying conclusionto come to grips with and that’s before taking into account the reviews that tend to contradict each other to some extent. It’s common to get overcome by it all. I found that using a site like dpreview.com is very handy as this site classes the camera by features, price, and popularity It also offers for the most part impartial reviews and precious reader feedback. At the end of the day no amount of reviews or spec’s can make the decision for youand the only way to know what works for you is to visit a shop and get clicking to find a camera that suits.

NoHabits to the Point of Boredom! August 27, 2009

When we as humans experience something new for the first time, our brains get to work trying to figure it out. It tires to tie it to prior experience, to familiar objects or stimuli, and make a connection with it so that we can comprehend and understand it. poker is no different. When you see your first royal flush, you may be so flabbergasted by it, you don’t know what to do with your monster hand. And so on and so forth goes the game with all the different lines of betting, and lines of strategy, but eventually, even the greatest and most passionate players, go through what is called habituation. We essentially become disinterested because we have habits down pat, and we rarely stray from them. Not only will doing this make you an exploitable player, but by doing so, you’ll be in for a loss. Why? Well, quite frankly, you’re bored, and when you’re risking money, boredom is something that will make you a losing poker player quickly. But habituation is not always a bad thing. You just need to be able to recognize if it’s affecting your game negatively or positively. If it’s becoming negative, then you need to take a break, but think about the positive aspect. You see a poker player and have habits against him that are winning habits. This is good habituation. You know when he bets a certain number of chips you can put him on a small range of hands. Or if you see one player bet, you know he has AA or KK since he calls everything else. So to sum it up, there’s a good and bad side to every coin, but if you find yourself on the boredom end of habituation when dealing with poker, take a break or hiatus from the game until you’re ready again to pick it back up with passion.

Bank Seizes Player Funds June 16, 2009

Filed under: Gambling, Games Playing, Great Fun @ 4:27 pm

So, the big buzz this week was the U.S. government seizing $30 million from bank accounts associated with player fund withdrawals from poker online sites. The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) instructed several banks, including Citibank, Wells Fargo and Alliance Bank of Arizona, to freeze the accounts of payment processor Allied Systems Inc. This is the processor of the very popular e-check payment method.

So, essentially, a lot of online poker players cashed out money from Full Tilt, PokerStars, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker and received bad checks. The money was not accessible and the checks bounced.

This doesn’t mean that the money does not exist or has been taken away, it had just been frozen. For whatever reason, the U.S. government is trying to lean on businesses that cooperate with poker online sites. If they make their lives more difficult, then the average poker player’s life is more difficult and the game slows down and eventually dies without having to pass any actual laws. This is a scare tactic. The PPA along with an ever growing number of members of Congress are working to combat the UIGEA. If not amended, the UIGEA can begin enforcing its restrictions Jan 1st 2010. But, in the meantime, the government is exercising its right to do whatever they want.

The sites have credited players back the monies they’ve tried to withdraw, and on some sites have even issued bonuses for the hassle.

Hindsight and Retrospect December 15, 2008

A prominent Pennsylvania casino made what could be one of the biggest (and most expensive) clerical errors in the recent history of the gaming and poker industry. The casino sent out an advertisement offering free food and gambling to 55,000 of its customers on November 28th. The catch was, the casino only intended to send it to less than 1000 of it’s most active high-rollers, not nearly 55 times that.

The prize package included a free pass to the “Epic Buffet,” and several coupons for free poker chips to be used on slot machine play. Immediately after realizing this mistake they issued a press release apologizing profusely for the mis-advertisement. They did, however, offer some consoling to the customers.

In an effort to correct the wrong, they are offering to honor up to 100 dollars of the coupons sent out to the consumers and are also offering two complimentary passes to the buffet for each customer.

But you have to wonder how this will work out. If a huge turnout does in fact occur as a result of this, how much money could the casino make, as we all know how easy it is to spend 100 dollars in poker in about 20 minutes in a casino if you’re not paying attention. We also know how alluring it can be to keep going when you get there. Perhaps this blunder will turn out to be a lucrative move once it all flushes out.

Poker Slang: Rags October 30, 2008

Filed under: Gambling, Games Playing, Great Fun @ 1:36 pm

There are two main ways the term ‘rag’ is used in poker. The first refers to the value of a player’s starting hole cards. Two cards that most average tight players would consider ‘junk’ or bad cards are considered rags. A few examples of severely ‘raggy’ hands would be 3 9, 4 J, 5 10 and other non-connected, non suited hands.

The term ‘rag’ also refers to poker cards that come on the flop, turn, or river, when the cards seem to ‘not connect’ to big cards or drawing hands. A rag flop would consist of low, disconnected unsuited cards. A ‘rag’ on the turn would be a low card that does not appear to fill in drawing hands, does not change the value of the top pair on board, does not complete a flush draw, etc. Another word for a ‘rag’ in this spot would be a ‘blank’ or a ‘miss.’

In general, a ‘rag’ on the turn is good for a online poker player who already has a made hand and believes he is defending his hand from a player who is drawing. This spot represents the opportunity for the player to continue to bet and protect his hand. A ‘blank’ hitting the board usually does not change the outcome of the hand except to encourage further betting, or if a player still in the hand had a severely disguised draw (ie: they stay in the hand with an underpair and end up turning a ’set’).

Exploiting Your Tight Image September 22, 2008

Filed under: Gambling, Games Playing, Great Fun @ 3:24 pm

One of the most important aspects in maintaining a good table image at the poker table is having the ability to change gears at the right time and exploit other players’ expectations of what they have decided you are capable of doing. If you stick too hard to one style, it can become pretty transparent even to the simplest of players what you are holding. Do you always bet the nuts? Do you check every single time you miss the flop?

Changing gears in fact not only important for keeping yourself from being picked off, it’s also a great way to pick up pots you had no business winning. A poker player who has established a tight image, only raising a certain number of hands and showing down big hands when you play a pot, can often then turn that image into a profitable market by building on the expectations set up in your opponents’ heads.

Being able to switch up your game and bluff in good moments puts your image to work for you, and for those spans of time where the cards aren’t coming, the position plays can end up making difference in keeping your head above water while you wait to make a better hand to take to war.

At the same time, building a reckless image early by bluffing and showing it, can also be exploited in the inverse manner, developing that crazy image and then actually playing some solid poker.

Feeding Pocket Sugar Gliders July 10, 2008

Pocket sugar gliders are one of the funniest pets ever. They are very small and very funny to play with. However, you need to take care of them in order to keep them healthy.

The food issue is one of the problems that you should take care. When your pocket sugar glider eats the wrong food, their health will be in a dangerous position. You need to take care of their nutrition so that they can always play happily together with you.

First of all, you need to know that sugar gliders are omnivorous. They will eat anything you give them. Anything in front of your pocket sugar glider has a chance of being eaten.

You have to know that giving your pocket sugar glider the wrong food will hurt it. You have to give it the proper nutrition it needs.

Your pocket sugar glider only needs 3 basic types of nutrition. These are proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables and some supplements. Once you can get all these basic nutritional requirements taken care of, you can make sure your pocket sugar glider becomes even healthier.

A pocket sugar glider’s best food consists of at least 75% fruits, berries, and other plants. It needs all these fruits and vegetables as its main foods.

The other 25% will be food such as insects, baby birds, bird eggs and other smaller animals. If your glider eats too much live food or meat, it could develop a musky odor. However, searching for live food for your pocket sugar glider could be very hard. If you cannot find such “food” in your environment, it is better to search the internet and buy more readily accessible sugar glider food.
