On Internet Prize Draws that Require Skill and Trivia Knowledge July 11, 2010

Filed under: Games Playing, Great Fun @ 5:59 am

You may enter a national lottery for fun, yet there’s a better opportunity online if you wish to win specific products. Typing in a phrase such as win an HTC phone in a search engine, you will discover a lot of sites providing the very item you wish to win. Commonly you buy an entry ticket for this kind of competition, and then respond to some questions that – if you answer correctly – moves you deeper into the competition, reducing your betting odds in the process.

Perhaps it’s the knowledge aspect that appeals to a lot of players, who may feel they have a better chance of becoming the winner as their own knowledge can decide the length of their odds of winning. Given that the original ticket purchase price is often a small charge, these types of contests offer a far better opportunity for its players than any national lottery ever could.

Finally though, you should participate in this kind of competition strictly as entertainment. If you become the winner, all well and good. And should you lose, then don’t worry too much – there will sure enough be other draws out there that you may enter. In my opinion, it’s a wiser move to enter a prize draw that expects some skill and knowledge than a contest that strictly relies upon luck to be a winner.

Going Broke May 20, 2010

Every serious poker online player at some point has gone broke. Some may have expended just the bank roll they allotted for poker, leaving life money on the side (that they might then begin to dip into). Others might have been truly flat penniless, having invested every cent they have access to into the kitty. Either way, there’s no worse feeling than having lost all the money you had ready to put into the game, and it can be difficult to spring back from. Some never come back at all. The truth about going broke and it’s universality is that the nature of the game comes with swings. Particularly if you are playing deep poker games, no limit, where so much can change hands in a single spot or sessions, some of these swings can be hard to stand up from. Some swings leads to deeper swings, as tilt and bad luck run together and build to knock you down. The true test of the serious player is he would can stand up from those holes and continue on. Players like Chris “Jesus” Ferguson have shown that coming up from zero is not only possible, it’s part of the ride, and with the right attitude and aim, anything can be fought back from.

Using Scare Cards to Bluff April 26, 2010

Say you’re playing poker you’ve got a King of hearts and 10 of clubs, and the flop comes out 5 of spades, 3 of diamonds and King of spades. Not too shabby-you’re looking at top pair, so you bet and an opponent calls you. But then the turn shows an Ace of spades, so now you’re looking at an overcard as well as a flush draw that can break your Kings. Doesn’t feel so good now, does it?

That Ace of spades is an effective scare card-when the turn or the river makes a pretty big difference on what the strongest possible hand is, it’s known as a scare card for it’s ability to make anyone who thought he had a good hand start to second guess himself. It’s also a great opportunity to make an attempt to buy the pot. When a scare card comes out, showing strength by betting is a great way to extend the life of your online poker hand if you didn’t hit the flop.

If you see a turn or river card that makes a drastic change to the shape of the best possible hand, place a bet of a few times the minimum, to try to get the rest of your online poker opponents off of their hands and steal the pot.

Railing Durrr – $50/100 PLO April 6, 2010

I was bored on a bus for 14 hours. The bus happened to have internet and I could not get my poker client to work, so I fired up FullTilt and it connected. The problem was that I had no money on FullTilt. I blew through my old Frequent Player Points and began snooping around on the high stakes tables. Tom Dwan was seated at a few tables, but at $50/100 PLO, which is a bit lower than he usually plays. Anyway I pulled up 2 of his tables and watched him play. Both were 6-max tables, but at one he was heads up and no one else joined.

What I found really awesome was that there are run-it-twice options at the high stakes cash tables. Running it twice is when you get all-in against a poker opponent and offer to deal the rest of the cards out as if they would add to the preexisting board separately to make two different final boards. So if you were all-in on the flop and ran it twice, you would get a normal turn and river, and then a second turn and a second river. If you win both boards you win the whole pot, if you win one you chop the pot.

I saw an amazing hand where Dwan ran it twice. He had an open ended straight flush draw and his poker online opponent had the nut flush draw with aces for an overpair. Dwan’s flush outs were blocked, but he had the straight cards as well as the straight flush cards in the deck to win. He lost both. It was exciting and awful all at once!

Parents constantly appear to get a little uneasy when it’s schooltime holiday time, they haven’t engaged a family getaway therefore the children are stuck with them every day everyday for the next two weeks and they frequently what to do with them for each of that time without going broke, because let’s face it, youngsters like to do activities that need copius amounts of spending! They enjoy the theme parks, the travels to the sea, trips to the cinema and there’s solely so many movies you can take them to and only so many trips to the green before you all start getting a little nervous (and your wallet begins to thin). Here’s big idea, why not to attempt to explore their creative side? Try to start with some white and then some coloured sky lanterns ( sometimes called as wish lanterns). Then tell your youngsters paint, draw and decorate them as much as they can, you can use all the stuffs you can see round the household like feathers, gleam, and so along.when painted you can have them dry and give them on display for some time. Then when there’s a special occasion such as a birthday party, you can apply the decorated lanterns and release them at the event with the minors informed they made a good job decorating them. The children will be pleased to display their imaginative efforts to their household and supporters and will joy in watching them up in the sky with everyone observing together. It’s a tremendous mode to spend a special here and now with your family.

In the last two sections we talked about expanding your games and using the notes feature. In this section, we’re going to talk about freeroll hunting and bonus hunting. If you’re a decent online poker player, then you’ll be able to make quite a bit of money just from freerolling, rakebacks, and bonus hunting. When you sign up on a site, you generally get an offer to get a match bonus for up to x% of your initial deposit, and many sites are trying to get these players to keep playing so they’re offering initial deposit bonus freerolls for new depositors.

You, as the up and coming online poker phenom, are going to take advantage of this. If you hunt hard enough you can find a schedule of freerolls and bonuses. For the bonuses I recommend the site bonuswhores.com as they have all the best bonuses available and are constantly updating. For the freerolls and big guaranteed tournaments, you should check out freerollsmonitor.com since they include all the freerolls that are coming up within the next hour.

If you bonus hunt and clear your bonuses, and start playing and winning the poker online freerolls, you’ll soon start to notice that you’re bankroll is doubling pretty quickly. And when this happens, you’ll know you’ve moved into that “beyond amateur” stage. Think about it, if you get a 110% bonus match up to 600 dollar and you invest 600 and clear your bonus, you just got a free 660 dollars. Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Always Take a Free Card December 23, 2009

One of the biggest mistakes that rookies make is folding their hand when even though everyone in front of them folds. Even seasoned veterans will do this out of frustration at getting rags hand after hand.

A few years ago I was at a home poker game and eventually the poker blinds came around to me. I was pretty disappointed to see that I was dealt a 2-3 off-suit, and I waited for someone to raise me so that I could toss away the garbage in my hand. To my surprise, everybody limped in and I got to see the flop for free. It was late, and I’d had a slow night, so I was getting ready to toss my cards anyway out of frustration, but I fought off the idiot instinct and watched the flop.

I was glad that I did, as I watched a 3-3-2 with a spade draw come out to give me a full house, I slow played, called the few raises that came out, checked through the turn and watched the final spade come out on the river. It was beautiful-two people went all in, and I gladly called.

One of the sweetest moments in poker online is when you’re in the big blind position with a low to marginal hand and no one raises. It gets even sweeter when you hit on the flop, because no one ever suspects the big blind. The full boat just about tripled my stack and put me in the money-all from a hand that I almost threw away.

Paparazzi Photograph Chinese Lanterns November 13, 2009

Chinese Lanterns have been very fashionable this year and the team at Chinese Lanterns have really relished whipping out the camera to take lots of snaps of these beautiful objects cascading into the air.Well in all honesty we have been utilising digital cam’s as opposed to film due to the ease of functioning and adjustments of the photo’s;Fast edit and instant playback of shots as well as the storage of hundreds of snaps per memory stick is a very invoking quality. The storage limitation of my old polaroid 24 shots camera seems old school by comparability. Making videos by a simple wind of the dial is also a great feature for catching baby’s first steps or a Chinese Lantern cascading sky high.I recently bought a new camera and can assure you it was an committed and extended process. There are many different facets of the buying conclusionto come to grips with and that’s before taking into account the reviews that tend to contradict each other to some extent. It’s common to get overcome by it all. I found that using a site like dpreview.com is very handy as this site classes the camera by features, price, and popularity It also offers for the most part impartial reviews and precious reader feedback. At the end of the day no amount of reviews or spec’s can make the decision for youand the only way to know what works for you is to visit a shop and get clicking to find a camera that suits.

NoHabits to the Point of Boredom! August 27, 2009

Filed under: Gambling, Games Playing, Great Fun @ 9:45 am

When we as humans experience something new for the first time, our brains get to work trying to figure it out. It tires to tie it to prior experience, to familiar objects or stimuli, and make a connection with it so that we can comprehend and understand it. poker is no different. When you see your first royal flush, you may be so flabbergasted by it, you don’t know what to do with your monster hand. And so on and so forth goes the game with all the different lines of betting, and lines of strategy, but eventually, even the greatest and most passionate players, go through what is called habituation. We essentially become disinterested because we have habits down pat, and we rarely stray from them. Not only will doing this make you an exploitable player, but by doing so, you’ll be in for a loss. Why? Well, quite frankly, you’re bored, and when you’re risking money, boredom is something that will make you a losing poker player quickly. But habituation is not always a bad thing. You just need to be able to recognize if it’s affecting your game negatively or positively. If it’s becoming negative, then you need to take a break, but think about the positive aspect. You see a poker player and have habits against him that are winning habits. This is good habituation. You know when he bets a certain number of chips you can put him on a small range of hands. Or if you see one player bet, you know he has AA or KK since he calls everything else. So to sum it up, there’s a good and bad side to every coin, but if you find yourself on the boredom end of habituation when dealing with poker, take a break or hiatus from the game until you’re ready again to pick it back up with passion.
