Funding
Monies that support the Monarch in the workings of her tasks as the ruler of state of the United Kingdom comes from the Civil List. This is a return of a small part of the proceedings from the Crown Lands that are provided by the Queen to parliament at the induction of each reign; all Crown Land being managed by The Crown Estates, an establishment that is exclusively answerable to parliament. In the 2003-04 financial year, the amount presented was ?176 million, where the Head of State’s overheads was just thirty six million pounds. The Queen’s overheads doesn’t encompass the cost of protection.
